The summer is coming to a close at the box office with some unexpected surprises.
Crazy Rich Asians took the top spot at the box office again this week with $25.01M, a drop of just 5.7 percent from its opening weekend which is pretty much unheard of. Domestically it sits at $76.81M and globally has hit $83.91M off of a $30M budget. Work has already begun on a sequel.
Second place went to The Meg with $13.03M. It now sits at $105.3M domestically and $408.6M globally off of a $130M budget.
The Happytime Murders opened in third place with a disappointing $10.02M at 3,256 screens. Its budget clocks in at $40M.
Fourth place went to Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Domestically it now sits at $193.9M and globally it has hit $538.7M off of a $178M budget.
Disney’s Christopher Robin rounded out the top five with $6.34M. It now sits at $77.62M domestically and $112.72M globally.
This week’s lone major release is Kin.
