Shuri, the intelligent and hilarious sister of T’Challa (a.k.a. Black Panther), will star in a spinoff comic that’s set to come out this October. According to Bustle, the comic will find Shuri as the leader of Wakanda after her brother is lost on a mission in space.

Here’s the official synopsis from Marvel:

Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one—and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda’s welfare and her own.

The new series is being penned by award-winning author Nnedi Okorafor, who is known for writing Who Fears Death; the book is currently being turned into a series in partnership with HBO and George R.R. Martin. Okorafor also contributed to Black Panther: Long Live The King, which was written by author Te-Nehasi Coates.

When Marvel Studios released Black Panther this past February, Shuri became an instant favorite among fans. Played by Letitia Wright, Shuri was a wonderfully sarcastic and intelligent character who invented some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s coolest gadgets.

When Shuri’s series is released this October, fans will have the opportunity to spend even more time with one of the MCU’s best characters.
