Sony has once again moved the release date for Masters of the Universe. From a generic “2020” date to a more solid March 5, 2021… which already has two other movies scheduled in.
After years of development, it seems that the Masters of the Universe film is finally moving ahead with some purpose. Noah Centineo has confirmed he will indeed be playing He-Man, and a new script was ordered at the beginning of the year. The latest news has the film moving back to a more reasonable date to accommodate the fact the film has started production, but there are some issues.
Sony moved the film to March 5, 2021. That date is currently occupied by Fox’s (now Disney’s) animated feature, Nimona, as well as a “UNIVERSAL EVENT FILM.” It seems like a risky date to place a film that has been in development since at least 2012.
Nothing is known about the plot of the film as of yet, but fans are hopeful it learns some valuable lessons from the 1987 film starring Dolph Lundgren. The majority of that film took place on Earth, which seemed an odd choice at the time, and still does.
For now, that is where the film resides date wise, but we have a strong suspicion it will end up changing dates yet again.
