Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins recently shared the first official image of Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva (a.k.a. Cheetah). Now, here’s our first unofficial look at Cheetah springing into action.
The set footage shows Minerva using her newfound abilities to effortlessly leap higher than the average human. No context for the scene is shared, but Wiig isn’t in her Cheetah costume, so we’re assuming this is before she fully embraces the persona. The scene appears to be taking place on a city street—there’s a Mexican flag in the foreground—with Minerva leaping toward the roof of a building.

It’s completely unexciting without Hollywood’s special effects applied, but it’s fun to see how the sausage is made. When Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters next year, fans will be able to pick this scene out as one they saw take shape.
The question is, how developed are Minerva’s abilities at this point? Since she isn’t in her full costume, perhaps she hasn’t yet fully transformed into Cheetah. And why is she leaping toward the building’s roof?
As is often the case with set videos (and photos), the lack of context leaves more questions than answers. Very few details about the Wonder Woman sequel have been revealed, so we don’t have much to go on. For now, we have a few official photos and Wiig’s Minerva showing off her superhuman abilities.
Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on November 1, 2019.
