Lizzie McGuire creator exits Disney Plus Revival

It would seem that not all has gone well on the revival of Lizzie McGuire over at Disney Plus. After only two episodes, series creator Terri Minsky has departed as showrunner.

In a statement to Variety, a Disney Plus spokesperson said, “Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series. After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”

Production on the series has been put on hiatus while a new showrunner is sought for the series. Series star Hilary Duff is currently on her honeymoon in Mozambique.

The new Lizzie McGuire will pick up the titular character’s life as she is about to turn 30. As she navigates her life she still has her original friends around her as well as some new ones. And, of course, her animated alter ego will be along for the ride as well.

No release date has been announced for the series as of yet.
