Fast & Furious 9 will see a new member joining the series. All-star wrestler John Cena has signed on for an unknown role in the latest installment in the series.
The ninth film in the main Fast & Furious series is shaping up to be a big one. Justin Lin is returning to the director’s chair having previously directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6. With Dwayne Johnson sitting out the ninth film amidst rumors he and series star Vin Diesel no longer get along, Cena will bring some needed muscle to the film.
This is the first major casting announcement for the ninth film with still no firm confirmation on how many series regulars will be returning. With the current plans calling for the tenth film to be the last installment in the main series, one would imagine the various plot lines will start to gather in this film.
Before Fast & Furious 9 hits theaters next year, we will see the first spinoff film, Hobbs & Shaw, in theaters on Aug. 2 of this year.
Fast & Furious 9 hits theaters on May 22, 2020.
