Ben Affleck Wants to Play Batman One Last Time

Despite multiple reports saying Ben Affleck was 100 percent done as Batman, the actor allegedly wants to don the cape and cowl one last time. Ironically, Affleck has reportedly been inspired by Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of the Joker to reprise his role.

According to Hollywood Life, Affleck has gotten himself back in shape after looking like a “bloated mess” earlier this year.

“He is back in shape not only for his health but he has a new-found love on doing Batman at least one more time again,” a source told HollywoodLife. “He feels he isn’t finished with what he wants to do with the character.”

The report went on to say that Affleck wants to explore a more serious side of Batman and even potentially work with Phoenix, who is currently filming a standalone Joker movie. The only problem is that movie isn’t connected to the same universe Affleck’s Batman exists in.

But considering the state of the DCEU, would anyone actually mind if Phoenix’s Joker replaced the one played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad?

Currently, director Matt Reeves is gearing up to film a standalone Batman movie, though reports claim the movie will feature a younger version of the character, ruling Affleck out. Essentially, the movie will be a reboot of the character.

With Henry Cavill allegedly out as Superman, perhaps Affleck wants to become the focal point as Batman.
