Marvel president Kevin Feige is finally answering some of our burning MCU questions.
This week Kathleen Kennedy hosted a special reception and screening of Black Panther with guests including director Ryan Coogler and Marvel head Kevin Feige. During the reception, reporter Erick Weber caught up with Feige and managed to sneak in some hot questions. To our surprise, Feige actually gave him some solid answers.
Weber relayed the responses on Twitter. Although they aren’t detailed explanations, they do shine a light on some of the biggest mysterious surrounding the MCU right now.
OK, here we go, 3 quick questions, answers direct from Kevin Feige's mouth
1) AVENGERS 4 trailer "before the end of the year"
2) Namor COULD make an appearance, still deciding IF & when
3) GUARDIANS 3 status "on hold"— ???? (@ErickWeber) October 26, 2018
Weber first asked when fans can expect the first trailer for Avengers 4, to which Feige confirmed it will arrive by the end of the year. That much was expected but it’s good to know that we’ll see something soon.
Weber’s second question touched upon a character that could be on his way to joining the MCU. That’d be Namor, the Sub-Mariner from the comic books. In short, Namor is the Aquaman of Marvel, which would make his addition interesting with DC’s Aquaman swimming into theaters in December. That may be the reason why Marvel is hesitant to add him to the MCU.
The last question Feige answered was on the status of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, confirming the movie was still “on hold.” Reports surfaced last week that the movie had been delayed until 2021 given the uncertainty the project was facing and Feige’s noncommittal answer lent some credence to that report.
Feige’s openness in answering some of these questions is very appreciated. Marvel has kept its upcoming plans extremely under wraps and it’s good to get some answers for a change.
