Netflix is heading back to South Korea for another influx of fresh content for its virtual shelves.

From Korean dramas to K-Pop music, South Korea is going through a global entertainment revolution right now. Netflix has already dipped its toes into that pond, and it’s going back for more.
Netflix has secured the rights for three movies and four television series from South Korea to debut over the coming months. One of the biggest titles will be the film Space Sweepers, one of the first big-budget space adventure films for the country. Directed by Jo Sung-hee and starring Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae-ri, Jin Sun-kyu, and Yoo Hai-jin, the film had been scheduled for a theatrical release, but that was canceled due to the pandemic. The film will now move to Netflix in the first quarter of 2021.
The Call will debut on Saturday, Nov. 28, while the comedy What Happened to Mr. Cha? is set to debut on Jan. 1, 2021.
On the TV side of the equation, the 10-episode thriller Sweet Home is on the way. The Uncanny Counter will debut on Nov. 28, and Run On will debut on Dec. 16. Lovestruck in the City will also make its debut in Dec.
With the slow down in production due to the coronavirus, it won’t be too surprising to see Netflix turn to its foreign partners a bit more in the coming months to fill in some programming gaps. Add in the popularity of South Korean media, and it seems highly likely we could see more on the way.
