After months of closure, Walt Disney World is preparing to finally reopen the Magic Kingdom, but it’s not going to happen over night.
The various Disney parks have been closed since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The parks have been trying to find a way to reopen, and it seems that a battle plan is coming together at last.
On Wednesday, the Walt Disney World Resort submitted a plan to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in Florida. The plan received unanimous approval paving the way for Walt Disney World to reopen on July 11.
The plan calls for the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom to reopen on July 11. This will be followed by EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on July 15.
When the gates swing open once again, guests will find some new rules in place. The parks will operate at reduced capacity, masks will be required, and everyone will have their temperature taken before entering. You will also find more mobile ordering, contactless payment, and social distancing enforced in ride lines.
Events such as parades, fireworks, and character meet-and-greets will also be suspended for the time being.
Legoland Florida and Universal Orlando will be reopening on June 1 and June 5 respectively.
No word as of yet on Disneyland and Disney California.
