New Mutants lands a new August release date

Once again, The New Mutants release date has moved. You can now expect it on Aug. 28, 2020.

If The New Mutants release date news sounds familiar, it is. This is the fifth release date this film has had. The previous dates were April 13, 2018; Feb. 22, 2019; Aug. 2, 2019; and April 3, 2020. That last one looked as though it would finally happen, but then the coronavirus pandemic kicked into high gear.

We’ll see if the film can stick this release date this time, but it will more than likely depend on whether or not enough movie theaters have reopened by then. Right now the target seems to be July, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

With the current uncertainty of how the mutants will be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we imagine this will be a one and done. On a personal note, as The New Mutants is one of my all-time favorite X-Men spinoffs, if this is all I get, this is all I get. But seeing this team on the big screen will be a treat.

20th Century Fox in association with Marvel Entertainment presents “The New Mutants,” an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

The New Mutants will hit theaters on Aug. 28, 2020… we hope.
