Marvel Studios has found a director to take on the Shang-Chi movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct Shang-Chi, the first film from the studio to feature an Asian lead. Cretton rose to notoriety in 2013 with Short Term 12, which just happened to star Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson. They went on to wotk together on The Glass Castle, and are currently shooting Just Mercy with Michael B. Jordon from Black Panther.
It doesn’t take too many guesses how Marvel may have heard his name.
Dave Callaham is currently penning the script following his work on Wonder Woman 1984.
There has been no word yet on who may play the titular role, nor a possible release date. At this point everything past Spider-Man Far From Home is unknown, although Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, and a solo Black Widow film are all rumored to be in the works.
