Yet another Guardians of the Galaxy cast member has come out and shared their sadness in the wake of James Gunn’s firing. The latest one to do so is actor Michael Rooker who had a huge role in the last movie as Yondu.
Over the weekend at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta, Michael Rooker was answering questions when the loaded topic of Gunn being fired came up. Rooker spoke up on the subject for the first time since releasing a joint statement with the other Guardians cast in support of James Gunn.
“It’s terrible, isn’t it?” said Rooker. “Yeah, but oh well, guess what? He’s on a gig already. Suicide Squad, that’s right. He’s writing it and directing it as well.”
His answer started off with the hint of sadness all Guardians fans have been feeling since the project was put on indefinite hold but he then took it in a positive direction by pointing out James Gunn has landed on his feet. That’s a good way to look at it. Gunn has signed on to write and possibly direct a Suicide Squad reboot sequel for DC.
From Rooker’s comments, it’s easy to tell he still very much respects Gunn and laments the way things went down. It’s a shame things went down the way they did but it’s time to move on. Gunn has and it sounds as if Michael Rooker has as well.
