The Meg Takes the Top Spot at the Box Office

The Meg took the top spot at the box office in its opening weekend.

First place this weekend went giant shark movie The Meg. It took in $44.5M in the U.S. and globally it has hit $141.5M off of a $130M budget. The big question will be how it does in the second weekend.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout came in second with $20M. Domestically it has now earned $161.96M and globally it has hit $437.56M off of a $178M budget.

Third place went to Disney’s Christopher Robin which took in $12.43M. It has now hit $50M in the U.S. and $62.11M globally.

Slender Man opened in fourth place with $11.32M off of a $10M budget.

Fifth place went to BlacKkKlansman with $10.79M off of a $15M budget.

This week’s releases include Crazy Rich Asians, Alpha, and Mile 22.
