Super7 has become a well-known company for its love of the obscure and unusual. If you loved a movie as a child, more than likely Super7 will turn it into some form of action figure at some point.
The keyline for accomplishing this is the ReAction line which borrows heavily from the old Kenner toy packaging of the 1970s and early 1980s. The company does an amazing job of bringing together properties you would have never expected to get toys, or at least doing them in the 3 & 3/4-inch format that was popular back then.
This year the company is focusing heavily on horror properties with the likes of An American Werewolf in London, Child’s Play, Halloween II, Universal Monsters, Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks, Army of Darkness, and Aliens.
Other film properties getting the treatment include Back to the Future II and Red Dawn, the latter of which will come in two-packs.
TV properties will include the likes of Jem and the Holograms (which we were promised they would be truly, truly, truly outrageous after we inquired.), Voltron, The Munsters, SpongeBob SquarePants, Transformers, Thundercats, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Music ReAction will continue with more heavy metal-themed figures, but will expand into hip hop this year with the likes of the Notorious B.I.G., Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and Run DMC.
Sports ReAction will expand into modern baseball players, basketball will get two waves, the women’s U.S. soccer team, and additional mascots will be added.
There is a lot of ReAction on the way.
In non-ReAction news, Super7 will be launching a second series of Peanuts figures. The company will now be able to expand into characters such as Franklin this time around.
There will be only one new Super Bucket for now, and that will be the Misfits skull in a black hood. Super Cyborgs will be expanding into G.I. Joe this year with the B.A.T., and Soundwave will join the Transformers.
The Ultimates are expanding in both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Thundercats.
It’s going to be a busy year for Super7 fans!
