Hawkeye series reportedly delayed at Disney Plus

A new report has arrived that the Hawkeye series has been put on indefinite hold at Disney Plus.

Amongst the numerous Marvel projects announced for Disney Plus was a series based on Hawkeye. The series is set to see the Avengers archer train up his protege Kate Bishop. However, according to a source speaking with proven source Murphhy’s Multiverse, the series has been removed from the production schedule with no new date known as of yet.

There are multiple possible reasons for the change. One of them is Marvel Studios reportedly wanted Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee) to play Kate, but she is currently in production on Dickenson for Apple Plus. There is a possibility that production has been delayed to accommodate her taking the role.

The second theory has more to do with Jeremy Renner’s personal life. The actor – who has portrayed Hawkeye since 2012’s The Avengers – is currently involved in a custody case with his ex-wife that has included accusations of abuse and death threats. There is some chance that Disney wants to see how the court case plays out before it goes into production.

And the final theory is that there are five other series in various stages of production and that may just be too much for anyone at this time.

No official word on this news as of yet, but it’s something we will definitely be keeping an eye on.
