It is sometimes amazing to compare domestic and international trailers because they can have completely different focuses. The new Halloween international trailer certainly demonstrates that.
On Wednesday we saw a new Halloween trailer that focused heavily on Michael and his return to Haddonfield. This new international trailer is much more about what has happened to Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) in the 40 years since that fateful Halloween night.
If you compare it with the domestic trailer, it’s easy to see what we mean. The pacing and tone are far more traditional, while the U.S. trailer had that incredibly long shot – by trailer standards – of Michael walking to get the hammer out of a shed.
We are in no way saying one trailer is better than another. Both are interesting. It’s just fascinating sometimes to see how differently the same movie can be marketed.
Here is the official synopsis.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Halloween will hit theaters on Oct. 19.
