Like clockwork, a James Bond film has finished filming, and Daniel Craig is saying he’s done with the role.
Craig, who has played 007 five times now, famously said after completing Spectre that he would rather cut his wrists than return for another. Then it was announced that he would return one more time. While he isn’t being quite as dramatic this time, he’s still saying that the time has come to hang up his Walther PPK and park the Aston Martin.
Speaking with German news outlet Express, Craig was asked if he would return to the role again. This time his answer was a bit more simplistic, saying, “Yes. In the future, someone else has to do it!”
Now 51-years-old, we do think he will be signing his discharge papers this time. Five outings in the role is a good number, and these films are not easy to make. On No Time to Die, Craig injured himself so badly that he had to have ankle surgery.
With reportedly the largest budget ever for a Bond film, at least he will be going out in style.
No Time to Die will hit theaters on April 8, 2020.
