According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, it appears that Angelina Jolie may finally be ready for her first superhero movie.
It’s unclear what the source of this information was, but Jolie is supposedly in talks for a role in the upcoming The Eternals film. Based on the Jack Kirby creation, it tells the story of a race known as the Eternals and their monstrous offshoots, the Deviants. Both races were created by the Celestials, which, thus far, we have only seen the head of one in Guardians of the Galaxy, where it was the home of the Collector known as Knowhere.
Sources are saying the film – which is to be directed by Chloe Zhao – will focus on the love story between Ikaris, a man filled with cosmic energy, and Sersi, a woman who enjoys walking amongst humans. It is unknown which role Jolie is up for, and for now, Marvel Studios is offering no comment on the matter.
To date, Jolie has not starred in any superhero property. She has, however, been in the movie Wanted based on Mark Millar’s series of the same name. And she, of course, also famously played Lara Croft in two films based off of the Tomb Raider game franchise.
There is no official release date for The Eternals as of yet, and no other cast has been announced so far.
