Wonder Woman 1984 takes the top spot at the box office

Wonder Woman 1984 took the top spot at the box office in its opening weekend, scoring the biggest opening of the pandemic.

First place went to Wonder Woman 1984 with $16.7M off of 2,151 screens. Globally it sits at $85M, and Wonder Woman 3 has been given the greenlight.

News of the World took second place with $2.4M in its opening weekend.

Third place went to The Croods: A New Age with $1.73M for a new domestic total of $30.34M and globally it sits at $98.25M.

Monster Hunter landed in fourth place with $1.1M for a new domestic total of $4.2M, and a global haul of $13.01M.

Rounding out the top five was Promising Young Woman with $680K.

It wasn’t a horrible weekend, but it still is a far cry from the pre-pandemic hey day.
