While the Wayward Sisters may not have gotten the series pickup they would have liked, they will all make their way back to Supernatural for season 14.
The Wayward Sisters – the contingent of female Hunters on Supernatural – made a run at their own series with a backdoor pilot inside of season 13. For those unfamiliar with the term, that is when a pilot is disguised as a normal episode of a series to gauge how audiences react to it. With the series having not received a pickup, the characters – and the plot they set up of an evil coming from another world – were left dangling. Never fear, a resolution is in the works!
“All of the characters are going to make their return one way or the other,” series boss Andrew Dabb recently told Entertainment Weekly. “We found a way to fold [them] organically into the plotline, and some of the hanging chads from the pilot last year ended up dovetailing nicely with some of the stuff Michael’s looking to do, and some of the stuff that’s going on in our world just generally. It all folds together pretty well, but they’ll definitely be in multiple episodes this season.”
It’s good to see the characters aren’t just going to disappear from the orbit of the Winchesters. Claire (Kathryn Newton), Jody (Kim Rhodes), and Donna (Briana Buckmaster) especially have been around long enough at this point that they are staples of the series. It would have been unfortunate if they just never appeared again.
Supernatural season 14 kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 11.
