Red Skull Free to do as he Pleases After Infinity War

Spoilers for Infinity War

In the pantheon of MCU villains, Red Skull is my favorite. Maybe it was the incredible combination of practical and digital effects or Hugo Weaving’s sinister voice, The First Avenger bad guy seemed larger than life to me. His return as the keeper of the Soul Stone on Vormir was the biggest surprise and delight in Infinity War (despite Weaving not doing the voice).

His charge on Vormir was to usher someone, (cursed to not be him) to the stone. Once Thanos threw Gamora off the cliff his charge was complete, leaving fans, and myself to wonder what happened to him? We now have an answer thanks to Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

Turns out, he’s free to go and continue his quest for an Infinity Stone or return to Earth. While the door to his return is open, I’m not holding my breath on seeing the noseless red smile back on the screen, but hey Avengers 4 is less than a year away.

A geek can hope.
