Playmates at Toy Fair: Ben 10, TMNT, and more

by Sean P. Aune | February 22, 2019February 22, 2019 11:30 am EST

Playmates is still going strong with some of its longest-running properties, and even more new releases on the way.

Kicking things off with Ben 10, waves 7, 8, and 9 are on the way with even more aliens joining the mix. New deluxe transforming figures are on the way as well.

There are also multiple new Omnitrix role-play items on the way as well that include an alien game and micro world playsets.

Nano Clix are entirely new line of blind bag and figure sets. You can purchase the blind bags that will give you a few figures at different rarities and collect them that way. Optionally, you can buy 20 sets that will also include a TMNT shell and you can build your own action figure out of them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is one of the longest running toy properties currently on the market, and there’s no stopping it yet.

Last years Shell Hogs for Leo and Mike will be joined by two new ones for Raphael and Donatello to complete the set. This also means that the bikes will get a new configuration when joined together. The other new vehicle for this year will be the Bug Buster for Donatello.

You can also keep an eye out for Babble Heads which will be interactive and say over 50 phrases, as well as a large assortment of new basic figures.

Pop Tops are a fun new collectible where you fold the figure down until its legs are concealed.

The first releases will include:

  • Wave 1: Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman, Leonardo (TMNT), Raphael (TMNT) and Michelangelo (TMNT)
  • Wave 2: Hulk, Captain America, Black Panther and Donatello (TMNT)

There were more on display and we assume those wil be coming later.

Also new this year will be the Super G flyers. Choose from either planes or some of your favorite hereos and watch them soar.

Playmates did have an entirely new line called Power Players that we weren’t allowed to photograph yet. It will include an animated series and will launch in the fall.

Nothing too radical out of Playmates this year, but we know we can always rely on them for a quality product.
