Hasbro at Toy Fair: Go Go Power Rangers!

Hasbro is not playing around when it comes to acquiring Power Rangers and the presentation at Toy Fair 2019 definitely proved that.

It still feels weird saying that Power Rangers is in the hands of Hasbro as opposed to Bandai, but here we are. The differences in how the property is being handled are pretty evident. This is definitely not just the same old repackaging of the toys from Japan. While that does exist, Hasbro is clearly coming up with some products of its own.

First up, the Power Rangers Beast Morphers toys which are staying pretty close to Japan.

Where things diverge wildly is in the new Lightning Collection. These figures will be highly articulated and come in high-end boxes with illustrations by Tom Whalen. The first figures up will be Lord Zedd, the White Rangers, and Dino Charge Red Ranger in April. SPD Shadow Ranger was easily our favorite.

The second wave will include the Beast Morpher Red Ranger, and Goldar who will be a GameStop exclusive.

It appears things are going to be pretty different under Hasbro’s leadership, but it also looks as though it may be for the better. And having one helmet from every season on display also gave the impression Hasbro has no intentions of forgetting the past.

We can’t wait to see where this goes.
