Freeform has announced that Motherland: Fort Salem has been renewed for a third season ahead of its season 2 finale. The network also released a brief teaser, although it definitely doesn’t spoil anything.
“Every time we get to dive back into the world of Motherland: Ford Salem, it’s a pleasure and an honor,” said series creator/showrunner Eliot Laurence in a statement. “I can’t wait to bring season three to the world. We plan to ramp up the insane stakes of the finale with an epic, scary, satisfying ride, all the while getting deeper into witch’s ancient origins. We are so grateful to Freeform for the opportunity, and to our fans — your love is palpable, wait till you see what we have in store.”
“We’re excited to bring Motherland: Fort Salem back for a third season,” said Freeform President Tara Duncan. “I am grateful to Eliot and the entire Motherland team. They have created a truly immersive mythology that has resonated with fans since day one, and I know this last chapter will continue to deliver.”
Season 3 will mark the end of the series. We’ve been pretty big fans of the show around The Nerdy, but we kind of agree season 3 feels like a natural end point for the show. You can only carry on a three-way war for so long before a story spins into absurdity.
No word as of yet as to when Motherland: Fort Salem season 3 will debut.
