Mattel at Toy Fair 2020: Barbie, Polly Pocket, and more

Mattel had a strong showing at Toy Fair 2020 with its new girl’s line of Cave Club dolls and the return of the Masters of the Universe, but there was so much more.

It’s impossible to think of Mattel and not think of Barbie. Just when you think she’s done just about everything she can, there’s always more on the way.

The main line is rapidly becoming the most diverse line in the marketplace, and it’s amazing what the company is coming up with.

Outside of your base dolls, you will also see a line celebrating the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, a new cooking career, and some new self-care editions.

The Color Reveal line is also expanding with new Barbie versions, but you will also see kids and pets joining in on the water reveal fun.

Barbie is the ultimate doll line, and it sure doesn’t seem like it will be slowing down any time soon.

Mattel had a very successful reintroduction of Polly Pocket into toy aisles, and she’s back with even more new playsets this year.

In 2020 Polly Pocket is going to be thinking about going with your kids when you leave the house. Some sets will now come with straps so you can carry them like a purse, or have loops on the back so you can wear them like a fanny pack.

One set we were really taken with was the unicorn pinata. You’ll be able to hang it, and then when you pull the tab on the bottom is will spring open and release colorful confetti and 25 individually packaged blind bag items.

Polly Pocket is definitely back in a big way.

Wonder Woman 1984 will cruise into theaters on June 5, and in support of that, there will be a fashion doll line.

You’ll find Wonder Woman in her basic outfit, Wonder Woman in her golden eagle armor, and Barbara Ann Minerva, the woman who will eventually become Cheetah.

Cloudees are a blind package collectible that you add water to and it will reveal your character. There are 28 different ones, hailing from seven different imaginary lands. They’re cute as can be and sure to catch your eye.

Lotta Looks is a newer line that is based around all of the filters you can use on social media. Snap on your favorite “filters” and give your doll a unique look.

And we’ll wrap up this look at Mattel’s girl lines with Disney’s Zombies 2. It’s a fun, unique line, and definitely has some looks you won’t see in any other doll lines.

Mattel has been at this a long time, and it certainly shows in the knowledge and innovation they show in some of these lines.
