As shooting on Todd Phillips’ Joker origin movie gets under way, the director has shared the first photo of Joaquin Phoenix from the film. Simply titled “Arthur,” one has to assume that this is the man who will become the Clown Prince of Crime.
Not much is known about the film yet except for a few tidbits. We know this is not part of the DC Extended Universe and is instead a stand-alone film. Phoenix will be the man who becomes the Joker with Robert De Niro playing a talk show host that somehow figures into the events that will drive Phoenix’s Arthur insane.
Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2) and Marc Maron (GLOW) are also in the film in unknown roles.
The untitled Joker film is due to hit theaters on Oct. 4, 2019.
