While Disney is in the process of absorbing Fox like some amorphous, sci-fi blob of content conglomeration, business is still proceeding as usual and plans are being made. Some of those plans are for Fox’s big three animated shows. In an in-depth report on the company by the Wall Street Journal, we’ve found out that movies are in the works for Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and the Simpsons series.
Here’s the WSJ:
[Fox is] bringing in a new partner to replace an expired deal with DreamWorks Animation after [DreamWorks] was acquired by Comcast Corp. The film studio is partnering with the Fox television studio on a big-screen adaptation of the animated series Bob’s Burgers, a second Simpsons movie in development, and a Family Guy movie that would mix animation with live action, said people with knowledge of the projects.
If you dig Fox animation, there’s a lot to chew on there.
There isn’t a lot info aside from the fact that these movies are in development right now. No release windows, no info about the stories. That a Bob’s Burgers movie is definitely in development is encouraging, though, and we can’t help but be curious to see how Family Guy might mix live-action and animated sequences.
We’re definitely going be keeping an eye on this.
