Mattel had a strong showing at Toy Fair 2020 with its new girl’s line of Cave Club dolls and the return of the Masters of the Universe, but there was so much more. We already hit the girl’s side of the showings, and now it’s time for the boys.
When you think “boys” and “Mattel,” you are inevitably going to think of Hot Wheels. The brand is going strong and there are all sorts of fun sub-series getting new entries this year.
Oddly, though, one of the most exciting things to us is that for the first time ever, Hot Wheels will have crushed cars. You can see them in the photos with the monster trucks. These crushed cars will still have rolling wheels so you can play with them if you like, but they will go perfectly with so many play scenarios.
Mega Construx are getting a lot of new products including expansions to Pokemon and Halo. All of them look amazing and we kind of wish the Times Square diorama they had on display was available to buy.
Imaginext is getting several new pieces this year including a massive Batcave playset that will come with an unmasked Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Joker, and Mr. Freeze. It’s loaded with accessories and play features.
There will be a new line of Surprise Slammers that include a figure and a two-piece vehicle in every package. There will be a mixture of Batman, Joker, and Mr. Freeze. There will also be female versions of each character meaning Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and Killer Frost.
Finally, there will be a new group of Imaginext XL figures of Batman, Superman, and the Flash.
Just because we’re between Jurassic World movies, that doesn’t mean we aren’t getting some new dinosaurs in the toy line this year!
Wrapping things up, the WWE is going as strong as ever with new blind box Beast Mode figures to Legends of the sports. The WWE is always going to be a hot ticket for Mattel.
