Verizon giving unlimited plan customers a free year of Disney Plus

The launch of Disney Plus is rapidly approaching, and there is no question there is a lot of buzz about the new service. At a price of $6.99 a month, or $69.99 a year, it has generated a lot of buzz among consumers.

What if you could get it for free, though?

Verizon announced on Tuesday that customers on its unlimited plan will soon be receiving information about enjoying a free year of Disney Plus service. There is, however, a caveat here.

You will indeed receive one free year of Disney Plus, but you will then renew at $6.99 a month if you do not cancel before that year is up. There is also no information yet on what will happen with customers who already purchased a subscription. Hopefully, it will stack, but we don’t know as of yet.

While it’s a good offer, and not one we would say no to, it does pale a bit in comparison to T-Mobile’s Netflix deal. The Magenta network pays for your basic Netflix subscription without an expiration date. If you’re going to weigh which mobile carrier to get your phone with based on its streaming partnership, we would definitely have to learn towards T-Mobile.

As the streaming wars heat up in the coming months, expect to see many more of these types of offers, and we’re very much in favor of that.

Disney Plus will launch on Nov. 12.
