The mind behind The Simpsons and Futurama is bringing his talents to Netflix with a new animated series called Disenchantment. But instead of focusing on the future or present times, the show will go back to the past.

The show’s first teaser is pretty open about the show’s purpose, disassembling the medieval genre that shows like Game of Thrones have popularized. Think of the show as an animated counterpart to silly movies such as The Princess Bride and Monty Python.

Similar to other Groening shows, the art style of Disenchantment feels very familiar, with a few updates that make it more modern, despite the show’s setting.

Here’s the show’s official synopsis:

This animated series from Matt Groening follows the misadventures of a hard-drinking princess, her feisty elf companion and her personal demon.

Disenchantment hits Netflix on August 17.
