The CW has found its live-action Powerpuff Girls and they’re made of sugar, spice, and everything nice.

The CW announced its three Powerpuff Girls on Tuesday and it’s a who’s-who of backgrounds.

First up is Chloe Bennet as Blossom. Fresh off her run on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Daisy/Quake, Bennet will be playing an adult version of the team leader who is reclusive, but trying to work her way back to being a leader.

Dove Cameron, best known for her roles in Disney’s Descendants movies, will be taking on the upbeat Bubbles. She’s more interested in recapturing her fame, but she may just surprise everyone.

Fun fact, Cameron tweeted in 2013, “I really just want to play Bubbles in a live-action Power Puff Girls movie.” It may not be a movie, but she did land the role she wanted.

Yana Perrault landed the role of Buttercup, the tough one of the bunch. Previously Perrault has spent most of her time on Broadway performing in the Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill, and a brief stint with Hamilton prior to the COVID shutdown.

As to this version of Buttercup, she has spent her adulthood trying to live an anonymous life.

The Powerpuff Girls pilot is written by Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody, with Cody executive producing. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden will also serve as executive producers. Erika Kennair will produce. Maggie Kiley will direct and executive produce the pilot.

The series is going through the pilot process, so it is not definite yet it will move to series in the fall.
