Hellsing anime to receive a live-action adaptation at Amazon

The swing to live-action anime adaptations continues with news that Hellsing is on the way at Amazon Studios.

Derek Kolstad, writer of John Wick is set to adapt Hellsing as a live-action film. Kolstad will also serve as a producer along with Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger, Ranger 7 Films’s Mike Callaghan and Reuben Liber, and Soluble Fish Productions’ Jason Lust.

The anime follows the story of the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, founded by Abraham Van Helsing. In the anime, the organization is now led by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing who took not he mantle as a child. They are protected by the Hellsing family butler and by Alucard, the oldest and deadliest vampire. It’s his face that is most associated with the series.

The mission of the group is to hunt down and destroy any supernatural faces that threaten queen and country.

Hellsing joins a growing roster of anime projects being turned into live-action. Both Cowboy Bebop and One Piece are currently in production at Netflix.

No word as of yet as to casting or a potential release date for Hellsing.
