HBO is getting back into the Game of Thrones business with its new prequel series, House of the Dragon. The new series is set 200 years further back in history and will focus on House Targaryen.

The trailer gives us our first good look at the members of House Targaryen. Matt Smith (Doctor Who) plays Prince Daemon Targaryen, Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz) portrays King Viserys I Targaryen, and Emma D’Arcy (Wanderlust) plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

The dark-haired Hightower family is also in the trailer. Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) is Lady Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill) will play her father Ser Otto Hightower.

Other characters shown include Wil Johnson (Outlander) as Ser Vaemond Velaryon. John MacMillan (Chewing Gum) is Ser Laenor Velaryon, Savannah Steyn plays Lady Laena Velaryon, and Theo Nate stars as Ser Laenor Velaryon.

While not seen in this trailer, it is known that House Targaryen rules the Seven Kingdoms with the help of its multiple dragons. It has been confirmed that they will be seen in the series.

House of the Dragon will premiere sometime in 2022 on HBO.
