Deadpool 3 officially in development at Marvel Studios

Deadpool 3 is moving ahead at Marvel Studios. Ryan Reynolds confirmed the news while appearing on Live With Kelly and Ryan on Friday morning.

The status of a third Deadpool film has been a put of a puzzle since Disney purchased 21st Century Fox. How a film studio known for family-friendly entertainment would handle “the merc with a mouth” was puzzling everyone. Disney CEO Bob Iger promised that Deadpool would still happen, but everyone has been cautious.

On Friday morning, Ryan Reynolds told the Live duo, “Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team.” He went on to add, “We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”

Reynolds had Deadpool in development for years, but couldn’t ever get Fox to sign off on the concept. Then, thanks to ‘leaked’ footage of a test scene, the film was finally greenlit and went to be a massive hit. Deadpool earned $801M globally, and Deadpool 2 took in $786.68M. With those types of numbers, it was next to impossible that Disney wouldn’t find a way to make a third film work.

As it stands right now, there is no indication when Deadpool 3 will be released. There isn’t even an indication of when it will film, but we will definitely be keeping an eye out for it.
