The cast of Bond 25 gathered at James Bond creator Ian Fleming’s villa, Goldeneye, in Jamaica on Thursday to share some news. No, we still don’t have a title for the film, but at least we had some solid confirmations.
While many had believed Bond 25 would receive its official title at the event, it wasn’t to be. For now, Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 is only known as Bond 25. We did, however finally get confirmation of all the returning cast including Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, and Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter.
The new additions included confirmation of Remi Malek – fresh off his Oscar-winning performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody – as the villain of the piece. Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Game Night), David Dencik (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Ana De Armas (Blade Runner 2049) and Dali Benssalah (Nox) will also be joining the film in various roles.
Also in attendance at the event was the newly crowned director of the film, Cary Joji Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation). He won the job after the departure of Danny Boyle last year over creative differences. He revealed the film has already filmed in Norway and Jamaica. It will soon be returning to England for shooting at Pinewood Studios, and then will wrap up production in Matera, Italy.
While it’s nice to finally have all of the cast confirmed, for the most part, all of them have been known for ages now. The truly big news would have been a title for the film, but apparently we’ll need to keep waiting.
Bond 25 is due to hit theaters on April 25, 2020.
