Marvel Studios has released a new Eternals trailer, and it wastes no time in answering some lingering questions fans have had. Following the release of the first trailer, fans were asking if the Eternals have been on Earth for so long, why they didn’t intervene in any events up to, and including, the Infinity War. Don’t worry, it’s now covered.
There is a lot to digest in this trailer, but one of the biggest moments is one of our best looks at a living Celestial.
In the comics, the Eternals are a race of people created by the Celestials around one million years ago. Each was gifted with long life and unique cosmic power.
When the Eternals were created, however, not all of the transformations went well and this gave rise to the genetically unstable and dangerous Deviants. The film will follow the Eternals protecting humankind from their less benevolent relations.
And if the term “Celestial” sounds familiar, we first saw them introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Guardians of the Galaxy. Knowhere – the place the team met up with the Collector – was really the severed head of a Celestial.
The film has a gigantic cast with Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Salma Hayek as Ajak. This film will also introduce Kit Hattington as Dan Whitman, better known as the Black Knight.
The Eternals is due to hit theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
