Rob Zombie has announced that after 20 years of attempts, he is finally getting a shot at rebooting The Munsters. Zombie, a life-long fan of the horror-comedy series, announced the project by revealing the logo. He also followed this up by taking a short drive in the Munsters Koach with original Eddie Munster actor, Butch Patrick.
No details are available as of yet as to the cast, plot, or potential release date of the film. One persistent rumor, however, is that the film will actually head to Peacock as an original film. This does seem like a more probable result than attempting to head to a theatrical release.
The series followed the adventures of the Munster family who each represented various famous movie monsters. The most iconic were Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster, a take on the Frankenstein monster, and Yvonne De Carlo as his wife, Lily, who was a female vampire. They also lived with Grandpa Munster who was played by character actor Al Lewis who was Lily’s vampire father.
The original The Munsters TV series ran from 1964 to 1966 on CBS for a total of 70 episodes. This was followed up with TV movies with a mixture of the original cast, as well as some attempted reboots along the way.
The last attempt was a complete reboot in 2012 that was renamed to Mockingbird Lane for the street the family resided on.
