The Halloween reboot from 2018 went on to gross $255.49M globally off of a $10M budget. A sequel was inevitable, it was just a question of when.
On Friday Universal announced that not only one sequel is on the way, but two. On Oct. 16, 2020 we’ll see Halloween Kills released, followed on Oct. 15, 2021 by Halloween Ends. Jamie Lee Curtis will be back for both films.
David Gordon Green and Danny McBride will return to work on the scripts for each. Scott Teems will assist on Kills, while Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier will contribute to Ends. Green will direct both installments.
On the producer’s side, Malek Akkad, Jason Blum, and Bill Block will return. Carpenter, Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, McBride, Green, and Ryan Freimann are executive producers.
The 2018 film saw the story ignore everything but the very first 1978 movie. So this technically makes these two new films the third and fourth in the reconfigured series.
Will we finally see the end of Michael Myers? We’ll just have to wait and see.
