Actor Michael K. Williams – best known for roles in The Wire and Boardwalk Empire – has passed away at the age of 54.

The New York Police Department revealed that Michael K. Williams was found deceased at his apartment on Monday afternoon of a suspected drug overdose and no foul play was suspected.
Williams shot to fame in the role of Omar Little on The Wire. He followed up that success playing Chalky White on Boardwalk Empire and is currently nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for his role in Lovecraft Country.
Marianna Shafran of Shafran PR confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss.”
