Following more than a year-long delay, Jungle Cruise finally hit theaters and Disney Plus Premiere Access. The film is so far one of only four films to cross $100M at the domestic box office.

Dwayne Johnson will return as Drank Wolff along with Emily Blunt as Dr. Lily Houghton. Michael Green will write return to write the sequel.

Also expected to return, but not yet confirmed are director Jaume Collet-Serra and the producing team of John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Scott Sheldon will return as executive producer.

Jungle Cruise opened on July 30 after having been in development for 15 years, and then a delayed release of more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Disney has been on the hunt for another series akin to the Pirates of the Carribbean for some time now, and Jungle Cruise may be exactly what the company was looking for.

This will mark the third pairing for Johnson and Collet-Serra as they just wrapped principal photography on Black Adam.

No word yet on when Jungle Cruise 2 will hit theaters.
