After several months of rumors, Disney has officially confirmed that a Loki series is in the works at its upcoming streaming service, Disney Plus. And, yes, Tom Hiddleston will be portraying the Asgardian God of Mischief.
Disney had no further information on the series at this time. Seeing as the streaming service isn’t set to launch until late 2019, and Star Wars The Mandalorian is already in production, our guess is we wouldn’t see the Loki series until some time in 2020.
With Loki having apparently died in Avengers: Infinity War, the question of when this series will be set is pretty open-ended. Considering the lifespan of Asgardians, there is no lack of holes in his history that could be filled in. The most glaring, of course, is after his apparent death in Thor and then the sudden appearance in Avengers. Where did he fall? How did he meet up with Thanos? There are a bunch of questions there.
No word yet on the other rumored Marvel series such as Scarlet Witch or Winter Soldier & Falcon, but something tells us those are also on their way.
