The 2019 Hellboy reboot is bringing a new actor onboard: Thomas Haden Church. He’ll bring to life a crucial character of the comic books, Lobster Johnson.
In the Hellboy comic books, Lobster Johnson is a strong-willed vigilante who works in secret in New York City during the 1930s. He has a strong stance for the law and as such ruthlessly kills mobsters and brands criminals with a lobster claw symbol.
This will mark the first time that Lobster Johnson is brought to the big screen. Guillermo Del Toro passed on incorporating the character in Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, instead working Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman into the story.
Thomas Haden Church is joining David Harbour as Hellboy and a rich cast that includes Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim and Milla Jovovich. The movie will be directed by Neil Marshall with a script penned by four writers including Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy.
