The Jonny Quest live-action movie has found a new director: Chris McKay from The LEGO Batman Movie.
A live-action take on Jonny Quest has been tooling around Hollywood for years now, and Robert Rodriguez was even attached at one time. Chris McKay has now taken over the project for Warner Bros. with no announcement of a schedule as of yet.
The series began as a primetime series for ABC in 1964, but was canceled after one season. It then lived on for years to come in other mediums and through revivals. Attempts at a film date as far back as 1990, but nothing has ever come together.
With every studio looking for multi-part franchises, this is a good move by Warner Bros. if it can get the project rolling this time. This could easily turn into multiple films.
McKay remains attached to Dungeons & Dragons over at Paramount as well as Nightwing for Warner Bros.
