It looks as though Marvel Studios has found its villain for the upcoming Moon Knight series on Disney Plus in the form of Ethan Hawke.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ethan Hawke (Training Day, Boyhood) has joined the cast of the Moon Knight series. While no character name was attached to the announcement, it is reported he will be playing the villain opposite Oscar Issac (Ex Machina, Star Wars)as the titular hero. The series is reportedly set to begin filming in March in Budapest.

Moon Knight has had multiple origins over the years from an ex-Marine turned mercenary with multiple personalities, to a conduit to the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Depending on which version they go with will dictate which villain Hawke will play, but the suspicion is on Bushman, a fellow mercenary who turned on him when a load of Egyptian gold came into the picture.

Moon Knight is one of many Marvel Cinematic Universe series coming to Disney Plus. It joins WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, and more. The 2021 schedule looks pretty set for releases, so it looks as though Moon Knight will be targeting a debut some time in 2022.

There is a whole lot of Marvel on the way between films and television, and if they can keep pulling talent such as Hawke into them, it will be a great time.
