Hulu is making it a bit more enticing for college students to sign up for the service with a new price of $2 a month.

Since 2019 the price of the basic, ad-supported Hulu has been $6 a month, with an ad-free tier available at $12 a month. The service announced on Monday that it will be reducing that pricing for college students effective immediately.

Eligible students 18 and over can sign-up effective immediately and can retain the pricing so long as they continue to verify they are in school.

This is a massive move for Hulu, and yet another sign of the loosening stranglehold cable operators have had for decades. At $2 a month, it’s an easy purchase now for most people. For the amount of television you’re getting, it would be hard to justify continuing to pay for any form of cable subscription.
