Disney CEO Suggests Avengers and X-Men Crossover Isn’t Far Off

Our dreams of seeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe inhabited by mutants could happen sooner rather than later.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney CEO Bob Iger said it only makes sense for the X-Men to live under the Marvel Studios umbrella, something that is very much a possibility now that Disney owns the rights following its acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

When asked if Marvel would absorb the X-Men franchise, Iger had a pretty emphatic and expected answer.

“I think it only makes sense,” Iger said. “I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

The only question is: When will this happen? Iger doesn’t provide a timetable, but with Avengers 4 signaling the end of an era for the MCU, you have to think Disney wants to integrate the X-Men sooner rather than later.

One character that could quickly become an Avenger is Deadpool, according to Iger.

“Kevin’s got a lot of ideas,” Iger said, referring to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

I could only imagine what it would be like seeing Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the endlessly sarcastic Deadpool taking on Thanos.
