Netflix dropped the first poster for the upcoming third season of Daredevil and it continues the dark theme set forth by the first trailer.
The series is returning later this year after a two-year hiatus, picking up after Daredevil joined the the Defenders. The climatic battle against the Hand and Electra really beat Matt Murdock up and left him in a really bad place. However, he is returning but he’s taking a very dark path this time around.
The poster is quite striking coming in vibrant red color with the ominous tagline “Let There Be Darkness” hanging over a cross with Daredevil’s helmet on top. It’s a wordplay on the “Let there be light” bible verse in Genesis 1:3, continuing the strong religious ties the series has set in the past.
When the series first began, Matt Murdock was in a church talking to a priest about letting the devil out. And now, it seems he really is letting him out to defeat his biggest adversary in Kingpin.
Daredevil season 3 will arrive on Netflix some time this year.
