As 2019 dawns, the film industry is already looking forward to the overall landscape of what it can expect this year. Atom Tickets surveyed its users in a number of categories and came up with a list of what films and personalities fans most want to see on the movie screens this year.
Fist up, the top 10 overall most anticipated movies for 2019 according to Atom Tickets:
- Avengers 4: Endgame
- Captain Marvel
- Spider-Man: Far From Home
- Toy Story 4
- The Lion King
- Star Wars: Episode IX
- Aladdin
- X-Men: Dark Phoenix
- Glass
- Jumanji Sequel
There are no real surprises here. Marvel Studios and Disney, which owns the former, are clearly going to have a gigantic year at the box office.
There also seems to be a definite theme amongst the top three most anticipated superhero movies for 2019:
- Avengers 4: Endgame
- Captain Marvel
- Spider-Man: Far From Home
When you think “family films” you think “Disney,” so the list of the most anticipated family films for 2019 is not the least bit surprising:
- The Lion King
- Toy Story 4
- Aladdin
The most anticipated horror films for 2019 feels like we’ve at least partially stepped back into the 1980s:
- It: Chapter 2
- Pet Sematary
- Annabelle 3
The top three ensemble casts fans are most excited to see in 2019 is a rather odd question, but here’s the answer:
- Avengers 4: Endgame with Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Mark Ruffalo
- Star Wars: Episode IX with Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, and John Boyega
- Jumanji Sequel with Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart
Fans are most excited to see the following actors in 2019, even if some of them don’t currently have films slated for release:
- Ryan Reynolds
- Chris Pratt
- Dwayne Johnson
- Will Smith
- Keanu Reeves
Moviegoers are most excited to see the following actresses in 2019, but in several cases, such as Bell, they will only hear her in Frozen 2:

And, finally, fans voted for who they are most excited to see get their chance at breakout movie roles:
