Amazon is going big with its new The Lord of the Rings series, The Rings of Power. The new series reportedly cost $465 million for the first season alone, and judging by this trailer, it looks like it as well.
The Rings of Power will tell the tale of the second age of Middle-earth, when there were 20 magical rings. This will be an entirely new cast of characters with the exception of Sauron, who is reportedly still a man at this point in his life. As to the 20 rings they break down as:
“Three rings for the Elven kings under the sky…”
“Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone…”
“Nine for mortal men doomed to die…”
“One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne…”
“One Ring to rule them all…One Ring to find them…One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.”
Season one was filmed in New Zealand as were all of the films, but it was already announced season two will film in the U.K.
The Rings of Power will debut on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 2.
